Another section had us jumping over a bunch of giant brown boxes to get to a marker on our map. For instance, one part had us jumping across platforms that were floating above a dangerous, ooze-infested river. While there's a lot of fighting in the game, we also encountered a couple of simple platforming sections. Even though developer Grigon considers FusionFall an MMORPG, the combat plays out much like your typical action game. You and your enemies' health are both tracked through health bars and if you happen to die, the game sends you back to a relatively nearby area. For the most part, as long as the enemy is within the middle of your screen, you can simply hold down the attack button to either shoot or swing at enemies to kill them with relative ease. The game is definitely casual friendly as it features an auto-targeting system that is very lenient. In combat, you can switch between a variety of ranged and melee weapons. In addition, doing these quests will net you experience which will level you up. A lot of the early missions had me hunting down monsters to gain new weapons and gear. Here you can find and accept missions from several Cartoon Network characters. After you finish the linear tutorial portion of the game, FusionFall throws you into a large sandbox suburb full of people who are completing their own quests. The game also supports controllers, if you can't swing with the standard keyboard and mouse setup.Īccepting missions is simple and easy. So far everything seems very intuitive and user-friendly.
After you design your character, you can use your keyboard's WASD keys to move around, use your spacebar to jump, and left mouse button to attack and interact with people and objects. The premise for the game is pretty quirky. On top of that, the entire package is wrapped with an interesting cel-shaded coat. Not only will you encounter several characters like Dexter, Buttercup, and other beloved Cartoon Network characters, but you'll notice that that the character designs are clearly inspired by Japanese anime.

While many MMOs feature high-fantasy worlds full of elves and dwarves, developer Grigon has taken on the unique task of creating Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall, a persistent-online game based around several shows from the Cartoon Network television channel.
